Whittier to Valdez: Breathtaking

Inn at Whittier in sunshine..

Carol and I have no phone or reliable internet for days. Only texts, sometimes a blinking triangle shows up. Who knows what that means…
Carol and I slept well at inn and woke to a rainy morning in Whittier. We went to the small shop area near docks, hmm not to much except trail and fishing guides.

Then we went to the Alaska Marine Highway 50th aniversary party, free homemade food, Grilled salmon, chips, soda and home made from scratch milk cake… to die for. Then off to the ferry.

In ferry, lunch on dash

Drove on the ferry, sat on inside deck. Charged phones. No waves, it was a 5 hour ferry ride. We saw glaciers….mini icebergs (i can not remember the techno name) a whale, couple otters and birds.

We arrived in Valdez at 5ish. And drove to Brookside Inn B&B Valdez, AK.

Lovely Bed and Breakfast, morning breakfast had great food with eggs.
I woke up with bad vertigo. Whoa… hang on. I slept another hour. Then we went back to Valdez to look at the earthquake museum.

The our journey to McCarthy began just like the gold rush miners, through Thompson Pass.
